About this bike

Seller Description:

Used Bought living in Aarhus (Denmark). SCO is a Danish bicycle brand dating back to 1905. Known for their classics, including special editions celebrating their retro designs. The build race bikes too and above is a photo Danish sprinter Peder Pderson on an SCO in the sprint world championship in Montreal in 1974. The Short John model is an iconic 1920s delivery bike which has been re-released as an e-bike. Salling Group are a powerful, old and respected retail firm based in Aarhus. Their flagship store in Aarhus is like John Lewis meets Selfridges and is a tourist attraction in itself. Salling own the brand SCO and have re-focused them with an emphasis on quality, design, and legacy. We bought this bike in a Salling shop in Aarhus when we lived there. In Denmark you have to keep a dog on a lead at all times, unless you are in a Hundeskov (dog-park). So I wanted a small-ish cargo bike where the dog could ride up front on a rack. (I tried a trailer on a normal bike and he hated the experience). As you can see the dog loves this bike as I do. Sadly we are in a smaller place in the UK, near a park and so this unique bit of kit must go. Details I need to add are: There are two wheel sizes: 24inch and 20 inch; 7 gears (smooth nexus hub), the front brake is TEKTRO mechanical disc and works well with good pads in, the back brake is a back pedal drum brake, works well and frees a hand for signalling, great for braking and turning particularly down hill. The HL10 front light never worked. I didn't have time to fix it. I think it's a pinched wire. Back light is fine. My mods: one less tooth in rear sprocket for a bit more speed; the bottom gear is till enough to get up a long hill with 8% sections in here in Crystal Palace; I upgraded grips with wide ergon grips; there's a bottle cage on the front rack under the right brake (super convenient). I put in better front pads and the bite is good; quad lock mount; schwalbe tubes. It's done 425 gentle Danish miles always in cycle lanes. It has been uniquely brilliant. I am very sad to see it go, and will miss the affectionate glances you always get from bikies, but we are back in London and we don't have the space anymore. Please note: neither the dog nor that bag is included! The bag is phenomenally well designed and handmade in California by INSIDE LINE EQUIPMENT. The bag clips perfectly onto the 35kg tare front rack. Loading a dog, a folded Brompton or the big shop onto this beast is no problem because the super strong front centre stand is solid as a rock. I also added a kick stand. The under sticker says 20kg weight but actually it's 30kg as it didn't account for the easily un-boltable front centre stand / rack unit. I think that's it but message me with any queries. Original stock charger included, spare keys (lockable sliding battery unit).

Upgrades:

Ergon grips (upgrade)
Better pads in front caliper (upgrade)
Added: kick stand; generic quad lock phone mount; bottle cage
Swapped out tubes with schwalbe presta tubes (upgrade)
